Autumn is Here

It's almost the end of October, Halloween is a few days away and there is finally a chill overnight. Some of the days are even a little cool though it should be 80 degrees this Saturday. There is a definite reduction in the amount of nectar taken from the feeders now. It takes a little more than gallon a day to replenish.
The 'old guy' is still protecting his feeders, although, I think he changes territory occasionally. I think there may be another hummer being overly territorial since there are a couple posts with feeders that very slowly decline in fluid levels, where most empty in a day or so. We may be getting closer to our winter population. There are mostly (possibly only) Anna's zipping around but I have not tried to take a close look for a while.
